What could be better than a relaxed traditional roast dinner for Sunday lunch in Cornwall? Followed by a walk by the sea, along the Cornish coast path or on the beach. Sounds like a blissful Sunday.

A bit of the history of Sunday lunch in Britain. It dates back to medieval times, when the Lord of the Manor would treat his servants and workers to a meal every Sundays as a reward for their work. Roast meat was and still is the centre for the Sunday roast dinner.

Sunday lunchSunday roast dinners are served every Sunday 12-2pm at The Edge Restaurant, restarting this weekend on Sunday 10th February after a short winter break. Choose from 3 roast meats every week, beef, pork, lamb or chicken. With everything you expect from a traditional Sunday roast, roasted meat, roast potato, Yorkshire pudding, stuffing, vegetables and gravy. And for those with a less traditional taste, The Edge often serves Sunday specials with a vegetarian option.

With seaviews from most of the tables in The Edge, you can enjoy your dinner whilst you watch the sea, and glimpse the seagulls and maybe a boat or some dolphins, an everchanging picture of the Cornish coast.

And when you have finished your meal, after your coffee or pudding, there are some lovely walks for the afternoon. Maybe a gentle stroll down to Port Isaac harbour or to Port Gaverne, or for the more energetic walk up the cliffs from the harbour onto the South West Coastal path and enjoy the birds eye view over Port Isaac. Spend a few hours walking the rugged path to Port Quinn to see some spectacular scenery. And later stop for an afternoon tea, as served at many restaurants, including The Edge in Port Isaac.
